WitrynaThe zeroth law of thermodynamics enables us to use thermometers to compare the temperature of any two objects that we like. First Law of Thermodynamics First law of thermodynamics, also known as the law of conservation of energy, states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed, but it can be changed from one form to another. WitrynaWe already have something in Mechanics playing a role similar to what the Zeroth Law does for Thermodynamics. It is embodied into the three Newton's law though. Let me first clarify what the Zeroth Law of Thermodynamics is and then I will show that there is something analogous in mechanics.

The third law was developed by chemist Walther Nernst during the years 1906 to 1912 and is therefore often referred to as Nernst's theorem or Nernst's postulate. The third law of thermodynamics states that the entropy of a system at absolute zero is a well-defined constant.
